In the second decade of March, the second million tons of oil was produced at Kashagan field, located in the Kazakhstani sector of the Caspian Sea, informs the correspondent of International News Agency Kazinform. "The production at the field was resumed in the last September.
Currently, the production volume reached 180 thousand barrels per day. The first million tons of oil was produced this January and the second one- on the eve of Nauryz holiday, said Arjan van Dijk, Director of Production Operations, North Caspian Operating Company B.V. We shall remind that within the frameworks of the first stage of Kashagan development, it is planned to start re-injection of associated sulphur gas to the underground formations.
Afterwards, the production of offshore oil will reach 370 thousand barrels per day (bpd). It is expected that at its peak, the oil production can reach up to 1.5 mln bpd.
