The consortium of the oil companies involved in the North Caspian project is planning to develop the offshore field Kalamkas-sea. “We are conducting negotiations with the government of Kazakhstan regarding realization of the following projects.
First of all, negotiations concern the development of the Kalamkas-sea field located several tens kilometers from Kashagan. I think that the decision will be reached in late 2012 or in early 2013.
The concept of this field’s development is under consideration. In 2013 we hope to enter the so-called phase for basic planning of this field,” informed Pierre Offant, operating director of NCOC during the working visit of the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov to the Atyrau region. Geological reserves of the Kalamkas-sea field are estimated at 160 million tons of oil a minimum, and under more optimistic forecasts – at 1 billion tons.
