Baku, Azerbaijan hosts the second SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition
Building on last November’s inaugural event in Kazakhstan, this year’s Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition takes place 4–6 November in Baku. This year’s theme, Delivering Growth and Sustainable Innovation in a Changing Environment, is explored in three high-level panel sessions, which focus on: gas development, managing risk and performance on mega projects; and industry insights and experience in developing national capability.
Technical excellence at heart
The busy technical programme includes 12 sessions covering a broad range of technical disciplines, with the goal of providing a platform for discussion of the technical opportunities, challenges, and lessons learned so far in the region.
Top regional events under one roof
This year’s event is being held in conjunction with two of the Caspian region’s most well-established oil and gas conferences. As well as the unrivalled technical content to be delivered at the SPE event, delegates can access the IX Azerbaijan International Geophysical Conference, as well as the International Conference of the Azerbaijan Society of Petroleum Geologists (ASPG) and European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE LC Azerbaijan).
Encouraging talent development and retention
The SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition has a conference programme that targets universities and schools. The SPE Regional Student Development Summit takes place alongside the main conference, with university students invited from SPE’s Azeri, Kazakh, and Russian chapters.
For primary and secondary school pupils, there is an inaugural one-day energy4me® workshop, sponsored by Schlumberger.
Political and industry backing
The SPE Annual Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition has strong support from both government and key players from the operator and service/supply sector in Azerbaijan. The event is hosted by SOCAR and co-hosted by BP. Sponsors include Baker Hughes, Caspian Geophysical, Chevron, ENGIE, ExxonMobil, Halliburton, INPEX, Nobel Oil, PETRONAS, Schlumberger, Statoil, TCO, and Total.
On the political side, the event has the backing of the Azeri Ministry of Energy, as well as support from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economic Development, and Education.
