May 16, 2019, Borankul village, Mangystau oblast – Donation ceremony of two soccer fields built under financial support from Tengizchevroil LLP (‘TCO’) was held in Borankul village of Beineu district, Mangystau oblast. The event was attended by Akim of Beineu district Abilov Beineubek Konilimkossovich and TCO representatives.
- Tengizchevroil donated two soccer fields for the village residents, helped to improve the territory of our kindergarten and supported the opening of sensory room for children with disabilities. . On behalf of Borankul residents I would like to thank you for such support and wish TCO prosperity, growth and further development, – noted Mr. Abilov in his welcoming speech.
The proposal to build soccer fields was repeatedly expressed by Borankul residents during consultation meetings with TCO management.
- We are pleased that we were able to support this proposal and go to meet the residents of Borankul. Given that TCO’s Future Growth Project – Wellhead Pressure Management Project has some scope of work in Mangystau oblast, we considered it necessary to initiate a short-term, but already proven to be effective, social investment program in this region. These soccer fields were built as part of this program,” said Rzabek Artygaliyev, General Manager, TCO Policy, Government and Public Affairs, at the opening ceremony.
The area allotted for each soccer field is 1,500 square meters, and the playing space with a size of 45x25 meters is covered with 20 mm rubber crumb. Also, fields are equipped with benches, bins and lighting. This is not the only project implemented for Borankul’s 7,000 population. Launched in September 2018, the “Public Spaces” Social Project, coordinated by the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia, is functioning here. The objective of the program is to attract residents to developing public spaces. The “Public Spaces” Project is also being implemented in Fort Shevchenko and Bautino, Tupkaragan district, Mangistau oblast. Other large projects financed under the TCO Social Investment Program for Borankul residents are aimed at developing social entrepreneurship, teaching English and improving the quality of medical services.
In addition to these initiatives in the Mangystau oblast, as part of the Social Investment Program, TCO has partnered with four non-governmental organizations with projects to restore the recreational potential of touristic sites, train unemployed women business skills and fundamentals of entrepreneurship, develop the leadership potential and vocational guidance for the younger generation, and provide treatment to children with limited opportunities.
Tengizchevroil LLP is a Kazakhstani partnership that explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG, dry gas and sulfur. TCO conducts its operations in accordance with world-class safety and environmental standards. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Current partners are: Chevron, 50 percent; KazMunaiGas NC JSC, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent and LukArco, 5 percent.
The Future Growth Project-Wellhead Pressure Management Project (FGP-WPMP) are two integrated projects implemented by TCO simultaneously. FGP-WPMP implementation will allow an increase in Tengiz crude oil production capacity by approximately 12 million tonnes per year or 260,000 barrels per day and the overall Tengiz crude oil production capacity will be approximately 39 million tonnes per year or 850,000 barrels per day. While FGP implementation will expand production, WPMP will keep the existing Tengiz plants at full capacity by lowering wellhead pressure and boosting the pressure of the six existing processing trains.
