Tengizchevroil Contribution cools Hospital and greens Kulsary Hospital receives air conditioner units; Kulsary gets 2000 trees
Atyrau, Zhylyoi District, Kulsary, 16 August 2013 – Tengizchevroil (TCO) today announced the donation of fifteen AC units to the Kulsary Infectious Diseases Hospital and two thousand trees to the city of Kulsary.
“We hope that these air conditioners will make the hospital visit a little more comfortable for patients, and a more pleasant work place for the staff”, said Tim Miller, TCO General Director.
Miller said that the tree planting project is a “beautification project that honors the initiative undertaken by President Nazarbayev to improve the greening of the country. This project also includes support for the planting and maintenance of the trees to help ensure they live a long life, and make Kulsary one of the greenest cities in Kazakhstan”.
Since 1993 when it was first formed, TCO has invested over $830 million in various social projects for the benefit of Atyrau Oblast and its employees. In 2013, TCO has budgeted the following activities: $25 million for social infrastructure investment through its Egilik program.
The majority of that fund will be dedicated to the construction of kindergartens and schools in Atyrau and the Zhylyoi Region; $1.3 million to its Community Investment Program, aimed at improving the quality of health and education in the Atyrau Oblast; and $140 million in nature protection and reliability projects that will continue to improve its environmental performance. Miller thanked Maksim Izbassov, Akim of Zhylyoi District, for his continuous support and productive cooperation in executing important social projects in Zhylyoi district.
Tengizchevroil explores, develops, produces and markets crude oil, LPG and dry gas and also sulfur. The Tengiz field in Western Kazakhstan was discovered in 1979 and now is one of the world's deepest producing super giant fields. Extractable oil reserves in the Tengiz field range between 750 MM and 1.1 billion metric tons (6-9 billion barrels).
General explored reserves of the Tengiz reservoir are 3 billion metric tons (26 billion barrels) and 190 MM metric tons (1.5 billion barrels) in Korolev field. In April 1993, Tengizchevroil LLP was formed between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron Corporation. Current partners are: Chevron, 50 percent, KazMunaiGas, 20 percent; ExxonMobil, 25 percent and LukArco, 5 percent.
