CEFC China Energy Company Ltd agreed to purchase 51% share in the Romanian subdivision of the Kazakhstan’s national company “KazMunayGas” - KazMunayGas International N.V., The Economic Times reports. As stated in the article, the agreement became a part of the package of agreements with a total value of 4$ billion, which was signed in Beijing by Kazakhstan and China in regard to the field of oil and gas, telecommunications and atomic energy.
According to the statement of Chinese company, as well as two high-ranking sources, CEFC will obtain control of KMG International (KMGI), which is fully controled by “KazMunayGas”. Based on assessment from one of the sources, the value of KMGI is in the range of $500 million - $1 billion. “CEFC is planning to invest billions of dollars in order to expand its network of petrol stations to more than 3 thousand.”, - said one of the sources, who’s statement is provided in the article.
According to him, part of the financing will be recieved from Chinese $40 billion infrastructure fund “Silk Road”. As is well-known, Romanian Rompetrol Group, which is controlled by the Kazakhstan’s national company “KazMunayGas”, changed its name to KazMunaygas International in 2014. Rompetrol - is a major oil and gas holding company of Romania. It consists of three plants (Petromidia, Vega and Rompetrol Petrochemicals), as well as more than a thousand of petrol stations in Europe. “KazMunayGas” is the national operator for exploration, production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons, which represents the State’s interests in the oil and gas industry of Kazakhstan.
