Export customs duties

From the 12th of April Kazakhstan raised the rate of the export customs duty (ECD) for a crude oil up to 60 dollars per ton. The Prime Minister of the RoK Serik Akhmetov signed a respective resolution «About export customs duties for a crude oil and petroleum products» on the 2nd of April.

EP KMG

The first exploration well, drilled on the area White Bear in the British sector of the North Sea of EP KMG (Kazakhstan), BG Group (Great Britain) and Maersk Oil North Sea (Denmark), appeared to be dry. It results from the message of EP KMG with the reference to reduced consolidated interim financial statements of this company for three months, which ended on the 31st of March 2013.

Beginning of the facilities start-up in the Kashagan field is planned to be done by mid-2013, as the press-service North Caspian Operating Company B.V. (NCOC) reported.

EP KMG

The net loss of the company Exploration Production KazMunayGas (EP KMG) for January-March 2013 amounted to 0,7 billion KZT, informs Tengrinews.kz, referring to the press service of the company. It is reported that the earning decreased for 2% in comparison with January-March 2012 and amounted to 202 billion KZT.

Rompetrol

The Government of Romania approved the final conditions of debt adjustment of the holding The Rompetrol Group (TRG), which is fully controlled by the national oil and gas company KazMunayGas. The press-service of the MIA RK reports about it.

Rompetrol

Rompetrol, being a subsidiary of JSC NC KazMunayGas, will get full control over Romanian Rompetrol Rafinare, is underlined in KMG’s message. On February 15, 2013 Rompetrol and the Romanian government have signed a memorandum on mutual understanding on the settlement of the dispute on converting the bonds of Rompetrol Rafinare (proprietor of Petromedia Oil Refinery and Vega in Romania) in favour of the Romanian state in September 2010.

KazRosGas

By the joint decision of JSC NC KazMunayGas and OJSC Gazprom, being the authorised organisations under the Agreement between the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation of September 7, 2010 on the joint geological study and exploration of the transboundary gas condensate field Imashevskoye, KazRosGas LLP is defined as a uniform operator of the project.

Zhaikmunai LLP

Zhaikmunai LLP is the enterprise on exploration and production of oil and gas with the assets in the northwest of Kazakhstan. The company has confirmed legal registration of the property rights to three oil and gas fields (Rostoshinskoye, Daryinskoye and South Gremyachenskoye) in Kazakhstan after signing of appropriate additional agreements with the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the RКwhich came into force on March 1, 2013. As it was announced earlier, on August 17, 2012, Zhaikmunai LLP signed the agreements granting a 100 % right to the development of three new gas and oil fields (Rostoshinsky, Daryinskoye and South Gremyachenskoye).

The Customs Union

The Senate of Parliament has approved the draft law of the RК“On ratification of the agreement between the government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the government of the Russian Federation on trade and economic cooperation in the deliveries of oil and petroleum products in the RК”, and also ratification of the accompanying protocol with the amendments to the agreement.

American Caspian Services, belonging to the Kazakh billionaire Bakhytbek Baiseitov, has commenced its activities in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea, informs Interfax. For these purposes, the company has formed a 100 % subsidiary, Caspian Services LLC.

Max Petroleum

Max Petroleum has started drilling of the production well at the Zhana Makat field in the oldest oil bearing area of the Atyrau region. The well will be drilled to a target depth of 1338 m with the target horizons in the Jurassic and Triassic collectors.

ExxonMobil Appoints New Managing Director of ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc.

In February 2013, Exxon Mobil Corporation, a leading international oil and gas major, announced the appointment of Mr. Bruno Jardin as Managing Director of its Kazakhstan affiliate, ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc.  He succeeds Michael Crews, who has headed the affiliate since 2009.

Gazprom Neft

Gazprom Neft has acquired Bitumen Plant LLP, a new asset for production of bitumen products with an annual capacity of 280 000 tons, located in Southern Kazakhstan near Shymkent,” is marked in the company’s press release. According to the document, Bitumen Plant LLP is one of the leaders in production of bitumen in Kazakhstan.

Under the decision of the board of directors of JSC КаzMunayGas Exploration & Production, Abat Nurseitov has been appointed to the post of general director (chairman of the board) of JSC KMG EP. Earlier,he held the post of deputy general director on productionat this company.
