April, 11 to 13, the largest oil industry event took place in Atyrau, the oil capital of Kazakhstan - North-Caspian regional exhibition “Global Oil&Gas Atyrau 2017”.
The opening delegation included: the Akim of Atyrau region Nurlan Nogayev, the Deputy Chairman of “KAZENERGY” Association Uzakbai Karabalin, the General Consul of Germany Jorn Rosenberg, the trade representative of the Russian Federation in Kazakhstan Alexandr Yakovlev, the General Director (Chairman of the Board) of “Atyrau Refinery” LLP Galimzhan Amanturlin, the Deputy General Director of “Embamunaigas” JSC Aibolat Gabdullin, the entrepreneur and shareholder of “Anaco”, “Atyrauneftemash”, “Zaman Energo”, “Sagat Energy”, “Belkamit” Sagat Tugelbayev, and diplomatic mission representatives and exhibition organizers.
Kazakhstani companies were the major participants, which amounted to 61% of the total exhibitors. This year, the organizers noted the 30% increase in the exhibition participation. This trend means both the importance of the event and the positive market condition.
Exposition was located in the new exhibition center of Atyrau provided by ABS Modular Limited LLP. This platform complies with the international technical requirements and provides the required infrastructure. Change to the new platform was based on the exhibitors’ technical requirements. The center’s design solutions allowed to arrange large-sized machines on the special platform outside the pavilion, and the equipment inside the building, and to hold presentations and workshops in the special equipped zone.
These factors undoubtedly affected the exhibition attendance, as one of key conditions for the successful expo event. In 2017, total number of unique visitors made up 1,660 people, with a significant increase as compared to the last year.
The presentation of the “Global Oil&Gas Atyrau” golden partner “North Caspian Operating Company” (NCOC) was one of key events of the exhibition. It was the report on sustainable development for 2016, which is an annual non-financial report with the performance indicators in the economic growth, social development and environmental protection. As to the environmental aspect, the company reported that zero oil spills over one barrel occurred in 2016.
The international investment forum “Atyrau Invest-2017” took place simultaneously with “Global Ol&Gas Atyrau-2017”, which was visited by over 500 business representatives, potential investor companies, national companies, development institutes and governmental bodies, near and far-abroad countries and diplomatic missions.
Managing Director of NCOC Bruno Jardin delivered his speech about the Kashagan achievements in 2016:
- We have replaced the pipeline system and delivered the first oil batch in early October. We are planning to increase the daily production up to 370 thousand barrels.
He also said that the North-Caspian project had a significant impact on the economy due to the workplaces created for Kazakhstani specialists and possibilities provided to the local companies. As of the end of 2016, since 2014, total payments on local content in goods, works and services made up over 13.3 bln US dollars.
Deputy Chairman of “KAZENERGY” Association, the member of the Board of Directors of NC “KazMunayGas” JSC Uzakbai Karabalin, in his report “Challenges and Prospects of Oil and Gas Industry in Kazakhstan”, was sceptical about the expert prediction of the “oil era downhill”:
- You can not apply the simplified templates to the oil and gas industry, since it is a quintessence of different sciences and modern processes as high as the advanced maths, nuclear physics, material science. In fact, the oil and has sector is a cluster development model prototype.
He also noted the demand growth for polymers and other petrochemical products, which would reach 1 bln tons per year by 2040, i.e. the doubled present consumption volumes. In his opinion, the current situation in the oil market has stabilized:
- Anyway, the oil remains a high-demand product. I believe that its price will fix at 50-60 dollars per barrel.
“Global Oil&Gas Atyrau” is not only the efficient sales and goods and services promotion tool for local producers, it is rather a unique opportunity to attract international investments to develop the Caspian region. Over 100 companies from Azerbaijan, Germany, Denmark, Iran, Italy, Kazakhstan, China, the Netherlands, Oman, Poland, Russia, the USA, Turkey, Ukraine, Croatia and Switzerland visited the exhibition.
“Global Oil&Gas Atyrau” is continuously supported by the Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan, the Akimat of Atyrau region, NC “KazMunayGas” JSC, “Embamunaygas”, the Union of Service Companies “KAZSERVICE” and diplomatic missions of participating states.
