In2009, ExxonMobil engineers drilling into deep offshore oil deposits in the Gulf of Mexico unexpectedly encountered particularly hard and abrasive rock formation. Instead of taking the drill bit half a day to drill through this formation, it ultimately took four runs, or trips in and out of the hole, and three weeks.

Khazar and Kalamkas-Sea Could not Stand the Competition
The Ministry of Energy of Kazakhstan is developing a roadmap for the Khazar and Kalamkas-Sea projects after the withdrawal of investors – the Consortium of North Caspian Operating Company (NCOC) and Shell. This was reported in early November by the press-service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Delayed Start
After the completion of the modernization program of its refineries, Kazakhstan completely covered the demand of the domestic market for gasoline and diesel fuel. But it is still not possible to start exporting surpluses.
