The Kazakh national oil and gas company Kazmunaygas produced 5.929 million tonnes of oil and gas condensate in the first quarter of this year. This was announced on Wednesday by the press service of the company.
“The oil and gas condensate production amounted to 5.929 million tonnes, almost at the level of the first quarter of 2019. Gas production amounted to 2.26 billion cubic metres. The oil and gas transportation segment continues to be relatively stable, amounting to 18.517 million tonnes of oil and 28.32 billion cubic metres of gas. The volume of hydrocarbon processing at Kazakh and Romanian refineries decreased by 4.9% and amounted to 4.66 million tonnes,” the statement said.
According to KMG Chairman of the Board Alik Aidarbaev, due to the specifics of the industry, the need to maintain the country's economy and ensure the continuity of the production process, the company did not stop production activities.
“However, a sharp drop in oil demand due to the coronavirus pandemic and the OPEC+ agreement on collective reduction of oil production, where Kazakhstan decided to reduce production by 390 thousand barrels per day, could lead to a limitation of KMG production in the second quarter of 2020. KMG together with the Ministry of Energy is developing various scenarios and will take the necessary measures together with interested parties,” Aidarbayev said.
