Max Petroleum has started drilling of the production well at the Zhana Makat field in the oldest oil bearing area of the Atyrau region. The well will be drilled to a target depth of 1338 m with the target horizons in the Jurassic and Triassic collectors. If drilling will be successful and the company will receive a commercial inflow of oil, this can be the start of the Makat district’s revival where the majority of the fields being developed since the 1920s-1930s have been exhausted. Under license, the company plans to drill 30-40 small wells in this year which will be financed due to the loan from Sberbank. As part of the program for shallow drilling, the company plans to conduct assessment and development of the fields Zhana Makat, West Sagiz and Uitas. Drilling of additional wells is also planned at the West Baichonas, North Yeskene, Borkyldakty, East Кyzylzhar I and North Uitas fields.
