At the meeting with the President of the Republic Nursultan Nazarbayev, the Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan Uzakbay Karabalin reported that oil inflow was received in Zhambyl in the Kazakhstan shelf sector of the Caspian Sea during the exploratory well testing.
“During the exploratory well testing on Zhambyl structure the oil inflow with an output of 60 tons per day was received. We will study further this facility, but even now it is possible to speak about discovery of a new field, and I would like to congratulate you on that. For oilfield workers and all of us this is a very gleeful event”, – Karabalin said.
IA Novosti-Kazakhstan reported that Zhambyl is situated in the Northern part of the Caspian Sea. The distance from the site center to the coast is 60 kilometres and to Atyrau port - 180 kilometres North-Eastward. The site area is 1188 square meters. The water depth of the exploration area is 4-5 meters. According to available geologic-geophysical data, the Jurassic and Lower Cretaceous formations are prospectivein Zhambyl area.
