As informed by Mr. Yerbolat Dosayev, Minister of Economy and Budget Planning of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in connection with the suspension of Kashagan field operation, the negotiations on the increase of oil production and exports from other fields will be held with the major subsoil users.
“In 2014 there is still a risk of failure to start the commercial oil production at Kashagan field in the volume of 2.4 million tons. Therefore, an additional work will be carried out and negotiations, concerning a possible increase in oil production and exports at other fields, in the amount of not less than 1.5 million tons, will be held with the major subsoil users”, - Mr. Dosayev said during the briefing in the Central Communications Service at the President of the RoK.
As the Kazakh Telegraph Agency informed, the oil production at Kashagan started on September 11, 2013. However, on September 24, the field operation was suspended due to the leaking onshore pipelines, connecting the D-island with the Bolashak Integrated Oil and Gas Treatment Unit. The replacement of appropriate joints was performed and the production was resumed, but on October 9, the field operation was suspended again due to detected leaks. After repairing the damaged connections, the hydrotest was conducted under the full control and it showed the other places of potential gas leakages. The production was suspended and the thorough investigation followed.
