Aidar Asanbayev, head of the Kazakhstani company Petroleum Operating, has been appointed director of the trading team at Rompetrol, Argus reports. Specifics on the particular functions the new director will be in charge of Rompetrol's trading team have not yet been disclosed.
It is only clear that starting in June 2012, Asanbayev has been responsible for coordinating marketing efforts. In addition, Timur Azimov, former head of the sales company TH KazMunaiGaz, which is based in Switzerland, has been appointed to the post of Vice President for trading at Rompetrol. Meanwhile, Rufat Khodzhalakov has become the new boss at Petroleum Operating.
Formerly, he was the commercial director of the Atyrau Oil Refinery. Experts inform us that Asanbayev has many years of experience working in petroleum marketing. Prior to his appointment at Petroleum Operating, he worked in the major sales company Sanoil. It should be notable that both companies are suppliers of customer-owned oil to Kazakhstani refineries and are involved in exporting oil products outside of Kazakhstan.
Rompetrol belongs to the Kazakhstan company KazMunaiGaz. It owns the Romanian Petromidia and Vega oil refineries, which have a total capacity of approximately 5.5 million tonnes per year. In addition, Rompetrol owns a network over a thousand petrol stations in Romania, France, Spain, Moldova, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Georgia.
