Drilling of the first well to a depth of up to 4 000 m in eastern Aral Sea region is planned to commence in the next year, informed the inspection of geology and subsoil use of the Kyzylorda region. “In 2012-2013 Maksat LLP plans to renew exploration of oil bearing fields and hydrocarbon deposits on the operational territory in the Aral and Kazalinsk regions.”
“The total territory which is subject to study exceeds 11 000 square kilometers,” said Tolebai Tolepov, director of Maksat LLP. According to him, preliminary seismic survey was conducted at 500 sq. km and “has already shown good prospects in terms of revealing new fields”.
The main technological processes will be conducted with application of progressive technologies in order to maximally reduce the level of environmental pollution and to preserve a biological diversity of lands in these areas. “Maksat LLP conducts oil prospecting in the eastern coast of the Aral Sea for 5 years already, since 2007,” informed at the subsoil use department of entrepreneurship and industry management.
“The analysis of geological and geophysical materials accumulated since the end of the past century, including the new data obtained by Maksat LLP, allows one to approach anew to interpretation of materials on eastern Aral by considerably raising the general assessment of the prospects of its oil and gas content,” explained at the department. “In neighboring Karakalpakstan, the large stocks of gas and oil have been found already at the fields also referring to the Aral-Eastern depression. Probability that the stocks will prove to be true also in our region is very great,” consider at the department, informs КаzTAG.
