KPO Senior Management Change
On March 16, 2021, Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) announced two upcoming senior management appointments.
Giancarlo Ruiu will take over from Edwin Blom as the new KPO General Director. Adam Lowmass will step in as the new Operations Director and Deputy General Director, replacing Gabriele Giona effective April 1, 2021. The effective date of appointment of Giancarlo Ruiu will be announced at a later date. Gabriele Giona will be the General Director of KPO until the arrival of Mr. Ruiu.
Giancarlo Ruiu has twenty years of extensive experience in oil and gas field management strategies both in Kazakhstan and abroad, where he has held senior positions covering the full cycle of exploration, development, and operation, as well as business development. Most recently, he served as the Head of the Onshore Program at ADNOC/UDR, Eni's joint venture in Abu Dhabi. He previously worked as a Managing Director at Eni Ghana and as a Phase 1 Development Director at North Caspian Operating Company.
During his twenty-year career in the energy industry, Giancarlo has developed strong leadership skills and solid experience working in complex enterprises and building strong relationships with local stakeholders.
Adam Lowmass has 18 years of global leadership experience in manufacturing, commercial transactions, strategy development, business transformation, and capital projects.
Adam has been working at Shell since 2007. Before joining Shell, he was an officer in the Royal Australian Engineers. He has lived and worked in Australia, Russia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, Iran, South Korea, the Netherlands, Ireland, and currently in Kazakhstan. In August 2018, Adam was appointed NCOC's General Manager Production Excellence and was responsible for implementing NCOC's digital strategy and transforming its management system, with a particular focus on optimizing production costs and protecting health, safety, and the environment (HSE).
Their valuable experience and a good understanding of Karachaganak's performance will significantly contribute to the overall effectiveness of KPO.
