Maersk Oil Launches New Oil Gathering Facility
Maersk Oil has commissioned the first of 15 trunk lines of the new oil gathering system at the Dunga field in Mangystau Oblast, operated by Maersk Oil and in partnership with with Partex Corporation and Oman Oil Company Limited.

The oil gathering system is being constructed within Dunga Phase II Project scope which also includes drilling nearly 200 new wells, building 135 km of roads and 150 km of overhead power lines, and the construction of a new 17 MW power generation plant, new processing and storing facilities.
The trunk line gathering system has been designed to use a more efficient grid pattern of wells connected to main trunk lines, using fewer kilometres of piping, requiring fewer valves to serve more wells, providing greater process control and process safety as well as higher economic efficiency when compared to the cluster gathering method that has been used previously. It is planned that progressively all existing wells will be connected to the trunk line systems passing nearby using new flow lines and the new safer Dunga Phase II well skids. The newly launched 18 km long line will bring on-stream 14 new production wells drilled within Phase II.

“We are delighted to commission the facility as it will ensure continuation of our steady production increase we have had in line with our Phase II Project and look forward to reaching full capacity of our existing processing and storing facilities”, said Karsten Jensen, Managing Director, Maersk Oil Kazakhstan.
