– Gabit Azhdarovich, what is the potential capacity of Kazakhstan's petrochemical market?
– According to the Bureau of National Statistics under the Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the market volume for key petrochemical products in 2023 was: for polypropylene – 116,841 tons, polyethylene – 202,300 tons, polyethylene terephthalate (PET) – 77,100 tons.

During the year, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium restricted oil shipment from its sea terminal in Novorossiysk four times. On March 21, a month after the start of hostilities in Ukraine, the CPC announced that two of the three single-point moorings at the terminal were damaged as a result of a storm on the Black Sea. As a result, Kazakhstan's total daily oil production fell by 14% in April. The repair work lasted a month.

The year 2022 was marked by a landmark event in the energy industry – the 25th anniversary of oil and gas cooperation between Kazakhstan and China. During the Investment Attractiveness of Kazakhstan conference in Astana, the results of a study from EY conducted among existing and potential foreign investors were presented. The conference was attended by representatives of state bodies of Kazakhstan, foreign investors, and participants of business associations. During the discussion, the key issues of the study were discussed: factors influencing the choice of the country of investment, attractive industries that, according to investors, will attract the most significant investments, and risks and proposals to improve the investment climate in Kazakhstan.

The Ministry of Energy Summed Up the Results of the Year

At the annual Board of the Ministry held in Astana, Minister Kanat Bozumbayev noted that last year the targets for each sector of the fuel and energy complex had been fully achieved and even exceeded. In 2018, Kazakhstan produced 90.36 mln tons of oil. Which is 4.8% more than in 2017 and 3.9% more than in 2018.
