Chinese companies are dominating an engineering, procurement and construction tender for a pipeline project at the Chevron-operated Tengiz oilfield in Kazakhstan that requires bidders to arrange external financing, sources petroleumjournal.kz.
The EPC contract covers the construction of two specialised pipelines which will transport liquefied ethane and propane from a processing facility at Tengiz to two gas-to-polymer plants located about 200 kilometres away near the city of Atyrau, according to KMG Petrochem, the operator of the facility managing the pipeline's tender and construction.
KMG Petrochem is a wholly-owned owned subsidiary of Kazakh state run oil and gas holding company KazMunayGaz.
