Chevron Direct Investment Fund

Lyazzat Arenella is the incoming Reinvestment Manager for Chevron Direct Investment Fund Ltd. (CDIF), effective August 2026, and will be based in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

In this position, she replaced John Dorffeld.
 

She most recently served as Enterprise Optimization – Eurasia Lead in Houston.  Lyazzat’s key roles include Permian Non-Operated Joint Ventures and Royalty Commercial Land Manager, Global Commercial Central Trading Originator, and founder of the Kazakhstan Maritime Academy.  There, she established the country’s first internationally accredited maritime institution and played a pivotal role in securing Kazakhstan’s place on the International Maritime Organization’s Whitelist.
 

An ethnic Kazakh born and raised in Kyrgyzstan, Lyazzat moved to the United States as a teenager on a full scholarship. Lyazzat joined Chevron in 2005 and was among the first graduates of Chevron’s Commercial Leadership Development Program. She holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University, where she served as the Class President, with a focus in International Energy Management and Finance.
 

She returns to Kazakhstan with over 20 years of Chevron global experience, having worked across Houston, San Ramon, London, Moscow, and Atyrau in Upstream, Midstream, Trading, and Corporate Business Development.
