The tragic death of Total’s CEO Christophe de Margerie will not change the Company's policy in relation to Kashagan Project, shares Uzakbai Karabalin, First Vice Minister of Energy of the RoK. "Total is also involved in the Kashagan Project. This is a highly-organized, world-class company.

I think that the Company’s management has the people, able to "run up the flag" and to go on. I don't think that the Total’s general direction regarding Kashagan project may change due to this sad accident. In general, our relationship with the Company are still stable, based on the mutual motivation and business”,- explained Mr.Karabalin. "We knew him personally. We met from time to time.

We used to discuss some issues together. He is an optimistic, interesting and knowledgeable person. Of course, the loss of such a person is a very sad event for the entire petroleum community,"- he added.       We remind that Christophe de Margerie was killed in the plane accident at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport. Falcon jet crashed on the runway, killing four people. The crash was caused by collision with snow removal machine.
