CTCE breaks new ground

The second SPE Caspian Technical Conference and Exhibition (CTCE), the largest technical conference of its type in Azerbaijan, has come to a close after three packed days, оver 500industry professionals passed through the doors of the Fairmont Hotel, Flame Towers in Baku to hear from speakers drawn from the highest echelons of government, operators, service providers, advisory firms, and energy research companies, including Akif Alizadeh, President of the National Academy of Sciences, Natig Abbasov, Deputy Minister of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Academician Khoshbakht Yusifzadeh, First Vice-President, SOCAR and Martyn Smith, Vice-President Reservoir Development, BPto name a few.

Business breakfast on “State regulation of oil and gas reserves accounting” was held as part of the X KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum. The prerequisites for modernization of reserves accounting system in the Russian Federation, state regulation issues, the problems occurred in development and transition to a new system of reserves accounting and others were considered in the course of discussion.

An updated National Energy Report was presented at the X KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum. In recent years the world energy picture has changed considerably. The export markets, routes, etc. were reoriented. Since the previous Report of 2013, the world has undergone significant geopolitical and economic changes which significantly affected the economy and the energy sector of Kazakhstan. First of all, the question is about collapse in oil prices caused by excess supply, which marked the completion of the “raw materials supercycle” of the 2000s.

On September 30, 2015, VIII Youth forum on “Youth. Science. Innovations” conducted within the anniversary X KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum, has been completed.

The work of the current Youth Forum was focused on the role of the youth in the development of energy sector and in introduction of new innovative ideas into the largest oil and gas and energy projects of Kazakhstan.

The 2015 National Energy Report of the KAZENERGY Association

In 2016, crude oil prices will rise, on average, to about $63 per barrel and in 2020 to about $80 per barrel.  Prior to 2035 the growth in demand for primary energy in the world is expected to average 1.3% per year and will be from 90 till 115 million barrels per day.  This data, as well as trends in the global energy industry will be presented in the 2015 National Energy Report of the KAZENERGY Association.  The report will be presented at the X KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum, 29 September – 1 October in Astana.

Tengiz, the world’s deepest producing super giant oil field, was discovered in 1979. 

The Tengizchevroil (TCO) partnership was formed on April 6, 1993, between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Chevron. Current partners are Chevron, 50 percent; KazMunaiGas, 20 percent; ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Ventures Inc., 25 percent; LukArco B.V., 5 percent.
