On August 19th in Astana the national operator in the field of gas production and supply JSC KazTransGas and contracting companies acting under the Production Sharing Agreement in the frame of the North-Caspian project signed a contract of purchase of gas from Kashagan field.
KTG will direct 70% to 80% of the volume of gas produced in Kashagan field to the domestic market, said the company CEO Serik Sultangali. “The preliminary allocation of resources will be as follows: about 70% to 80% of gas produced – for the population of Kazakhstan, and 30-20%, depending on the needs of the domestic market, will be for export,” said Sultangali.
Moreover, the head of the company emphasized that the first gas from the field will be produced in the upcoming months. Reportedly under the terms and provisions of the contract KTG will purchase all gas produced in Kashagan in the first stage before the end of the PSA - up to the year 2042. The planned annual volume of Kashagan gas supply shall amount to 2.5 - 3 billion cubic meters, which will allow consolidating large volumes of gas for the domestic market and for export.
