Experts Have Discussed the Future of Petrochemicals

The 6th International Symposium on oil refining, petrochemicals and petroleum products - KazRefinEx-2011 - was held in Almaty at the end of March. Traditionally, it is organized by «Caspian Business Events» supported by the Ministry of Oil and Gas, Ministry of Environmental Protection, National Welfare Fund «Samruk Kazyna» and Akimat of Almaty city. At this time, the symposium brought together over 70 participants from 12 countries all over the world.
Among the guests of the symposium were: General Director of The Rompetrol Group Corporate Center S.R.L. Arman Kairdenov, the representative of Association for petroleum refiners and petrochemists of Russian Federation, Deputy General Director of JSC «VNIINP» - Alexander Danilov, Vice President for the Middle East and Africa of «ISSMAT Investment» - Karim Benhamuda.
The forum participants discussed the issues of modernization of Kazakhstan’s oil refining capacity, the results of implementing the State program for utilization of associated gas, new petrochemical profitable directions and projects, the problems of the industry, perspectives of recycling level increase and expansion of the local content. On the agenda of the symposium were the questions of creating of new industries, providing the increase of raw materials and the proportion of local content, attracting investments in petrochemical production in collaboration with major oil and gas companies; satisfying the housing needs; creating joint ventures.
