KPO Held Contractors’ Conference On Environmental Aspects Management During Fulfilment Of Contractual Obligations
10 March 2016 - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) held a Conference ‘’Management of Significant Environmental Aspects When Performing Contractual Obligations: Control Measures”. The event was attended by representatives of 53 Kazakhstani and international contractors of KPO.
Greeting the participants of the conference, KPO Project Execution Director, Robert Shelton, said: “KPO strives to continually improve its operations by putting Environmental performance is at the very top of our business agenda”.

“KPO production activities are based on the principle of sustainable development and adherence to the highest standards of environmental protection. Strict compliance with Kazakhstan legislation in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001 is a key KPO objective”, Robert Shelton added.
The conference agenda included presentations by Azamat Umirov, KPO Environmental Management Systems Auditor, on accounting of waste life cycle and Dinara Khabibullova, Lead Engineer of MCC, JSC, on analysis of environmental aspects identification.
Aigul Sultangaleyeva, KPO Environmental Management Systems Manager, presented to the delegates a presentation “Analysis of registers on identification of environmental aspects of KPO contracting companies”.
According to Aigul Sultangaleyeva, such environmental conferences have become traditional at KPO. “The accumulated experience has shown that such events represent an efficient platform for discussing the key environmental issues and sharing experience between KPO and its contractororganizations”, she added.
At the event the participants were familiarized with KPO plans on implementation of new ISO 14001:2015 standard requirements that were published on the 15th September of 2015 as well as with the work being conducted with a view of obtaining a new certificate before September 2018 as part of a three-year transition period. During the event, the KPO representatives have also answered questions raised by the conference participants about the development of registers of environmental aspects.
