Two Exhibitions in One Venue
For fifteen years one venue hosts two expo events: The North Caspian Regional Exhibition Global Oil & Gas Atyrau and the North Caspian Regional Construction Exhibition AtyrauBuild. Also this year Global Oil&Gas Atyrau - Atyrau Regional Oil & Gas Technology Conference, which took place for the tenth time, has celebrated its anniversary.
More than 100 companies from Azerbaijan, Germany, Denmark, China, the Netherlands, Oman, Poland, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine and Kazakhstan presented their products and services at the exhibition under different categories, ranging from machinery, industrial equipment to high-tech equipment and finishing materials. Holding two exhibitions in one venue has proved to be effective, the participants not increased opportunities for searching potential partners and expansion of business contacts because many exhibitors provide services for construction industry and they are also ready to participate in building infrastructure facilities in the oil and gas industry.
Among the participants were presented such large enterprises as Embamunaigas, Tengizshevroil, AtyrauNefteMash, Votkinsky zavod, KROHNE and many other oil producing, servicing, consulting companies, research institutes. Also, Atyrau and Mangystau regional authorities and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Republic of Kazakhstan presented their expositions.
According to the participants, such exhibitions create favorable conditions for demonstration of their products to potential customers. Nurdaulet Kanibayev, Logistics Manager of the Kazakh company BSD - a manufacturer of the large diameter pipes and wells, said:
- We did not expect such a big interest in our products, and this means that our Kazakhstan technology does not stand still. We are pleased with the results and we have found new contacts.
Foreign participants also appreciated the effectiveness of the Exhibition. Aleksey Dzhubanov, The Director of KRS Oil Gas shared his impressions:
- We are the official representatives of Surakhansk Machine Building Plant, Baku city, we are engaged in producing underground downhole equipment, and also in wells clean-up. The exhibition was very constructive, currently we are planning to conclude about 4-5 contracts.
The event is effective not only for participants and visitors, but also favorable for creating comfortable business climate in the region. In his welcome speech at the opening ceremony the First Deputy Akim of Atyrau region Gumar Dyusembaev provided statistical data which has proved once again the relevance of holding exhibitions and conferences particularly in Atyrau:
- Atyrau is one of the most developing regions of Kazakhstan. There are more than 600 medium-sized and large companies, whose share of the Republic's industrial output is about 24%, and 30% of which - with the participation of foreign capital. Due to the favorable investment climate in Kazakhstan, the region is the centre of attraction of foreign capital. The fixed capital investments in the past year amounted to 1.4 trillion tenge, including external investments of 847 billion tenge. Currently, the companies from 50 countries of the world operate in the region.
The exhibit also serves as a platform for the development of interregional cooperation. The constant participant of Global Oil&Gas Atyrau is the Local Administration of Mangystau region, the stand of which in different years represented large and medium-sized companies of the region. This year “Morport Aktau” SEZ was presented at the exposition.
The delegation from Karaganda region headed by the Deputy Akim Anuar Akhmedzhanov, attended the Exhibition for the first time. Speaking at the opening ceremony, he expressed willingness to cooperate more closely in the oil and gas industry:
- We are ready to share with you the experience, tell about our achievements, to introduce our products to the oil and gas industry. The purpose of our visit to Atyrau is the establishment of interregional cooperation. As you know, Karaganda is a major industrial centre, we have big business opportunities.
Karaganda enterprises are the participants of both the Exhibition and the Conference. The company Sovplim Kazakhstan presented a welding and filtration product on its stand. The company Bohmer Armaturen LLC during the conference told about the ball valve factory development in Karaganda region.
On behalf of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan the Deputy Director of the Department of Petroleum Industry Development Alisher Argimbayev welcomed the participants of the Exhibition and Conference:
- It is gratifying to note that such a massive industry event runs constantly, for 15 years. Many of today's participants are attending almost from the very first exhibitions. This shows the stability of our Kazakhstan’s market, that we managed to create favorable conditions for all of our participants. Of course, new time dictates its own rules, but we do not stand still, in spite of the global economic crisis. Kazakhstan continues to implement innovative industrial development program, which affects all sectors of the economy. This results in growing energy demand, including hydrocarbons.
Annually, the organisers of the exhibitions bestow to the participants specially established awards in several nominations. Thus, the exposition of the company Embamunaigas became a winner in the nomination “Best stand”, in the category “Best Marketing Solution” the companies BSD and Energy System Services were second to none. The companies NUHAS OMAN and DALGAKIRAN MAKİNA SAN. VE TİC. VE TİC. A.Ş. had the most successful debut, two awards for “Best Debut” were given to the Sultanate of Oman and Turkey. Tengizshevroil and Damen Shipyards Group received the special prize “For Reliability and Permanence”. “5 Ballov” Paints Trading Network was awarded “For Long-Term Support and Participation” award, which was established this year. Yet another award established this year is “For Long-Term Support and Participation” was given to the Paints Trading Network “5 POINTS” LLP.
More than 130 professionals of the industry among which there are the specialists of Embamunaigas, NCOC, KMG-Processing and Marketing, Atyrau Refinery, Tengizshevroil, KazNIPImunaigas, Caspimunaigas, Bureau Veritas, Cameron Petroleum Equipment, Kazakhstan Association of Petroleum Geologists, KazService Association and many other companies were the delegates of the Global Oil&Gas Atyrau Conference.
The plenary session of the Global Oil&Gas Atyrau 2016 Conference was devoted to the interaction of science, education and production.
The Managing Director of NCOC Bruno Jardin noted that the Conference creates excellent opportunities for the exchange of experience between oil and gas and servicing companies. Also, Mr. Jardin described the activities of NCOC as one of the major employers not only in Atyrau region, but also in the Republic as a whole.
The Energy Policy Officer of the European Union Delegation in Kazakhstan, Octavian Stamate, the Counselor, Deputy Head of the Administration of Aberdeen, John Reynolds, the Head of the Department of Oil Field Geology, Mining and Oil and Gas Engineering, People’s Friendship University of Russia Alexander Vorobyev spoke at the plenary session.
The Managing Director of the Association of Service Companies of Kazakhstan “KazService” Nurlan Zhumagulov very constructively presented his position regarding the development of Research and Development Activities and professional training in oil and gas industry.
The obligations “enacted by the Law (“On Subsoil and Subsoil Use”) under Research and Development have failed because of the lack of the clear definition of R&D and its implementation mechanism and monitoring. Subsoil users refer their types of work to Research and Development on their own or they send obligations to the Department of Information Technologies of Almaty, whose main activity is the development of information technology”, - pointed out Mr. Zhumagulov. Further the speaker proposed to apply the experience of Norway and “clearly identify the concept of Research and Development and every year to approve the list of technological challenges aimed at improving the effectiveness of fields exploitation. In other words subsoil users will invest in themselves through the partnership with the research organizations”.
After the plenary session, the Conference continued in the specialized round tables format. The second day of the Conference was opened by the session on “Development of Small and Medium-size Deposits”, the speakers of which were the representatives of the companies Schlumberger, Klarenco and Atyrau Institute of Oil and Gas. During the session in the format of open discussion the speakers considered the scientific approach in the area of field exploitation and also practical examples of successful implementation of innovational solutions. The moderator of the session, the Vice-President of Kazakhstan Association of Petroleum Geologists Kosan Taskinbayev highly appreciated the quality of the reports, and also noted that many methods and approaches submitted during the session are truly advanced and should be used extensively.
The Conference was concluded with the session on “Improving Oil Recovery. Drilling Technology”, the key speaker of which was the Sales Engineer of the company Schlumberger Beybit Akbayev. In his report, he spoke about how to increase productivity through the use of new technologies in the field of perforating. Also, in that session both theoretical and practical issues on the implementation of modern solutions using the example of discovered deposits have been brought up.
In general, the Conference was held in the trend of the most urgent issues of the industry. Each section referred to improving effectiveness, reduction of costs, introduction of innovations and it is encouraging that all these issues were considered on specific examples.
