Opening of the XI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum - the milestone in the history of EXPO – 2017
The main international event of the energy sector – XI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum on the theme “Creating the future energy” – will be held on September 7-8 2017 in Astana.

The Forum will be organized by KAZENERGY Association under the support of Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan and will be one of the key events within the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017 “Future Energy” held in Astana from June 10 till September 10, 2017. In addition, it will continue the dialogue started within the Ministerial energy conference “Ensuring sustainable energy development” and the 8th International forum on energy for sustainable development, successfully held in the capital of Kazakhstan on June 11-14, 2017 under the auspices of the UN regional commissions.
The Forum’s partners include the largest international organizations such as IEA, IEC, IEF, ECE, IRENA, as well as transnational oil and gas and energy companies.

Program of the XI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum will be aimed at discussion of the issues and problems connected with the effective management of sustainable energy sources; control over the production, storage and use of energy sources; provision of access to the energy sources; climate change and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions; stimulation of the use of alternative energy sources; introduction of energy efficiency programs, “smart” energy; innovative development of uranium and nuclear industry by the world energy companies.
The key speakers of the Forum: Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, Minister of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, Minister of Energy of the United Arab Emirates Suhail Mohamed Faraj Al Mazroui, Chairman of KAZENERGY Association Timur Kulibayev, President of the World Petroleum Council Thor Faeran, General Secretary of the International Energy Forum Dr. Sun Xiansheng, Minister of Energy of Georgia Ilya Eloshvili, Deputy Chairman of KAZENERGY Association Uzakbai Karabalin, General Secretary of the Energy Charter Urban Rusnak, General Director of the International Renewable Energy Agency Adnan Amin and others. Also, the heads of major world oil and energy corporations such as Chevron, Royal Dutch Shell, Total and others confirmed their participation in the Forum. Most of them will take part in interactive discussions on the themes “Energy transition: security, availability and sustainability” and “Future Energy: change and strategy factors”.

The event will provide an opportunity for its participants to comprehend the current situation in terms of the key challenges of the future energy and should contribute to the development of optimal strategies of national and international companies in the field of sustainable development”, - Bolat Akchulakov, General Director of KAZENERGY Association, commented.
Key report of the Forum will be the Presentation of the National Energy Report of KAZENERGY for 2017, prepared in 2017 by KAZENERGY Association jointly with IHS Markit. The report is based on 2015 version, but taking into account the new realities, goals and objectives specified by the Government of Kazakhstan, and is designed to provide a comprehensive view of the current situation and prospects for the development of the basic sectors of Kazakhstan economy, which together make up the country's fuel and energy sector.

“Challenges that energy is currently facing are changing the direction of activities in this sector on a global scale, increasingly striving for efficiency. Now, more than ever, such factors as the selectivity of investment projects, competition for new opportunities and reduction of capital expenditures are important. In this, the timeliness of the relevant decisions taken by the Government and also the degree of their predictability plays an important role”, - Mr. Akchulakov noted.
In addition to traditional plenary sessions, a number of sub-forums will be organized.
Thus, Student Energy Challenge Intellectual team competition, BRAIN RING Intellectual tournament, as well as the workshop “You and your energy source” will be held within the framework of the IX KAZENERGY Youth Forum Learning for Life.
The main themes for discussion of the IX National Conference of Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative will be “EITI Integration into the state system of open data monitoring” and “Beneficiary right in Kazakhstan”.

The III Forum of the Women's Energy Club of KAZENERGY “Women in Energy. Expanding the Limits of the Future”, during which the Mentoring Program will be presented, will present a look to the gender policy in the energy sector of Kazakhstan.
In addition, interesting presentations, press conferences, interviews with key speakers are provided for the Forum participants and media representatives within the extended media program .
In is expected that by the results of XI KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum, partner initiatives which will traditionally be included within the final Resolution will be developed.
