BackEnergy of Future: Eurasian Perspectives
On October 8-9, the Kazakhstan’s Association of Oil and Gas Companies KAZENERGY held the VII KAZENERGY Eurasian Forum in Astana city. The main theme of the Forum was the Energy of Future: Eurasian Perspectives
The solemn opening ceremony of the Forum began with the welcoming address to the Forum participants from the President Nursultan Nazarbayev, read out by the Prime Minister Serik Akhmetov. The President highlighted that over the years, the Forum turned into a significant event for both Kazakh petroleum and energy specialists, and the expatriate partners, working in our country.
He emphasized that Kazakhstan remains committed to the mutually beneficial international cooperation in the energy area and one of the principles for the further development of the country is the transfer from the raw materials extraction to the cooperation in the energy processing sector and the exchange of the latest technologies.
The Head of State underlined the importance of the innovations, including the environmental safety of the field development. An algorithm of actions was developed in the country for creation of a national progress model of progress, with an example of the starting the production at the Kashagan field.
Many promising projects are about to come in the future. The oil and gas industry should ensure the technological leadership being one of the key sectors of the country’s economy. I am convinced that our joint work and strength of our partnership will enable us to achieve all the designated objectives,”-concludes the President in his address.
The importance of the Forum was also highlighted by Serik Akhmetov, who reminded that the energy industry is the basis of the Kazakhstan’s economy. He informed that in a short time, the oil production in the country has grown more than in three times the level of 80 million tons annually, while the gas production risen more than in five times, reaching 40 billion cubic meters.
The start of the Kashagan project is very important, which can be considered as the achievement of technological progress and the benefit of the joint efforts of the leading global oil and gas companies. But the Republic is not limited by this success. The geological exploration is one of the priorities for the development of the resource and industrial capacity of the country.
-In compliance of the assignment of our President, we are building the entire high-tech chain for use of the energy resources: from prospecting works to production of the commodities with high marginal value,- said the Prime Minister. -This includes the development of oil refining and petrochemistry, improvement of the energy conservation measures and the development of conventional energy sources to the ‘green’ level, the use of the effective approaches to renewable energy sources.
The previous forums have shown their high potential in strengthening the cooperation between the State and business, actively contributed to the elaboration of relevant recommendations and decisions for the energy sector, said Serik Akhmetov, as he expressed the hope that this dialogue platform will further continue to ensure such important mission.
The solemn opening of the VIII Eurasian Forum KAZENERGY was also marked by the speeches of two former premier ministers from the EU: François Fillon from France and Jose Maria Acnar, Spain.
In his report during the plenary meeting, Uzakbai Karabalin, the Minister of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan shared his view of the global trends which will contribute to the substantial structural changes in the global energy. In general terms, presenting the economy of the future, U.Karabalin said that by 2030, the energy demand growth is expected to reach 30-40%.
There are the forecasts, reflecting the decline in the hydropower share and the gradual increase in the share of nuclear and renewable sources of energy. Besides, the role of energy efficiency and development of the renewable energy sources will become more important. Kazakhstan joined the countries, adopting the relevant programmes, after approval of the concept of green economy transition.
