KAMAZ: High Standards of Euro-5
According to the Department of Customs Control, it is forbidden to import the vehicles, corresponding to the ecological standard of Euro-3 and below to the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan starting from July 1, 2013.
According to the statement, the Government resolution of the RoKNo. 97 as of February 6, 2013, provides the introduction of Euro-4 standard for the vehicles, being imported to the territory of Kazakhstan from July 1, 2013, and for the vehicles, produced in Kazakhstan - from January 1, 2014. So, it will be restricted to import the Russian and Japanese cars made in 2009 and earlier. The Europeancars manufactured in 2005 and later, are allowed for the import. The American cars, made in2006 can be imported too.
The restrictions intended to ensure the environmental safety of the vehicles due to the harmful emissions into the environment with the stage-by-stage transition to the optimized and environmentally safe car fleet in the Republic of Kazakhstan. In this regard, it is forbidden since July 1, 2013 to import (and to register) to the territory of the RoKthe cars, corresponding to the ecological Euro-3 standard and less. Therefore, the vehicles will be certified according to the table, being the attachment to the Technical Regulations:
Categories of vehicles:
M1, M2, M3, N1, N2 and N3are the vehicles for transportation of passengers and cargo, equipped with the internal combustion engines, which permissible maximum weight is more than 400 kg and (or) maximum speed exceeds 50 km/h.
M1 is purposed for transportation of passengers (vehicles that have not more than eight seats, excluding the driver’s seat).
M2 has the same features (vehicles that have more than eight seats, excluding the driver), the maximum permissible weight is up to 5 tons.
M3 has the same features (vehicles that have more than eight seats, excluding the driver), the maximum permissible weight is more than 5 tons.
N1 is purposed for transportation of cargo with the maximum permissible weight up to 3.5 tons.
N2 is purposed for transportation of cargo with the maximum permissible weight from 3.5 tons to 12 tons.
N3 is purposed for transportation of cargo with the maximum permissible weight more than 12 tons.
KAMAZ: from Euro-2 to Euro-5
The assembling plants, created by the JSC KAMAZ abroad, depending on the laws and regulations, existing in these countries, produce nowadays a very wide range of equipment: from Euro-2 to Euro-5. At the same time, the development of the models, technological support and modernization of the products are ensured with the direct participation of KAMAZ TM specialists.
In Kazakhstan the transition from the Euro-3 standard to Euro-4 is completed for all the models at KAMAZ-Engineering JSC, at the sites, where the whole range of products is assembled: four-wheel drive vehicles, dump trucks, and chassis for trucks, bed trucks, and tractor units. In India the assembly of two KAMAZ models of Euro-3 class is succeed, and thetractor unit is in process of pilot assembly.
If the BAI plant in Ethiopia managed to produce just one model, the KAMAZ-6460 tractor unit, Euro-2 standard, then the assembling sites ofthe CJSC Autobagi in Lithuania assemble two models of KAMAZ, Euro-5 class and it prepares the production facilities to expand the model range of the same mainly heavy vehicles of environmental class. We do maintain our good reputation!
Development of new, energy-efficient and eco-friendly materials and introduction of modern methods of processing is another focus forthe KAMAZ production engineers. There steels with the reduced hardenability or RH steels are well-known, however their use is not enough advanced in the industry.
The first experience in this regards KAMAZ obtained 10 years ago: it was the contacts with ChusovMetallurgical Plant, from where the carriage springs come to the plant. Nowadays the decision was taken to use the RH steels in the manufacture of gears. Due to the absence of expensive alloying elements in the alloy, i.e. chromium and nickel, the material becomes very cost-efficient,saving 6-7 thousand Roubles per ton.
As for the quality, the operation life of the spare parts and vehicles, respectively, increases due to the new processing technique, if compared to the standardones. For this purpose, the automated unit OL.E45 was mounted at the plant for the heat treatment of leading cylindrical gears. The first pilot batch of the spare parts is already produced and the bed tests are pending the end of the year.
