LUKOIL took the decision to leave the projects Tyub-Karagan and Zhambai-Zaburinie in Kazakhstan. As informs Interfax-Kazakhstan, in 2011 the second exploration well Tyub-Karagan № 2 was drilled which has not revealed commercial accumulation of hydrocarbons.
The decision on the project Zhambai-Zaburinie was taken in connection with the absence of a drilling contractor capable to render services on the construction of wells under the existing conditions. The Zhambai project includes the offshore blocks Zhambai South and South Zaburinie located in the shallow zone of the Kazakhstan sector of the Caspian Sea. The project’s participants are KazMunayGas (50 %), Repsol (25 %), LUKOIL Overseas (12.5 %) and Sinopec (12.5 %).
