TethysAralGaz (TAG) has obtained a government's permit from the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan for the Doris pilot project for oil production at the Akkulka field," informs Tethys Petroleum Ltd in its press release.
According to the document, this permit gives the right to produce oil from the Akkulka field during the exploration period and allows the company to install and use equipment for producing 3000 - 4000 barrels/day planned for the second quarter of 2011. At present, TAG produces oil within trial production at a permitted level of 750 barrels/day.
Upon completion of the pilot program, the final estimates will be submitted to the Ministry of Oil and Gas for obtaining a production contract, after which it will be possible the field's full development with sales in the country and deliveries for export.
"It is expected that the company will submit the application for production contract upon completion of the appraisal program for the Doris project, which is planned to complete by the end of 2011," is said in the information. Tethys Petroleum is engaged in exploration and development of oil and gas fields in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In Kazakhstan the company operates through its 100 % subsidiaries - TethysAralGaz LLP and Kul-Bas LLP - under four contracts in the North Ustyurt basin to the west from the Aral Sea, near the Precaspian basin.
