KazTransGas: Zero Pollution and Safety

KazTransGas has been present in the energy market for over ten years and plays a strategic role in the national economy development. The Company sees its major tasks in ensuring uninterrupted gas supply to domestic and external consumers, extending the gas transport network and developing new markets. KazTransGas JSC has entered a new level of activities.
Commissioning of the first branch of the Kazakhstan-China gas pipeline – a Kazakhstani section of the Turkmenistan-China gas main line, inaugurated by the President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev and the President of the People’s Republic of China, Hu Jintao, appeared a significant economic and political breakthrough achieved by the country, enlarged the scope of its international cooperation and export capacity.
As expected, by the end of the year 2012 the gas pipeline capacity will be increased up to 30 billion cubic meters per year. Construction of Beineu-Shymkent gas main line will increase the gas pipeline capacity by another 10 billion cubic meters.
The Company seeks to increase production results and profitability. Moreover, the Company’s top priorities include achievement of safe and friendly working environment and ensuring of fire protection, operations and environmental safety.
Activities focused on HSE compliance at the production sites of the KazTransGas JSC group of companies are implemented in line with the effective legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the relevant industry-level regulatory framework and technological regulations.
The Company has introduced a uniform system of occupational health management (USOHM) at the facilities under NC KazMunaiGas JSC, put in place multi-level monitoring of compliance with occupational health and safety regulations (ongoing monitoring – OM). Standing certification commissions (SCC) train and examine the personnel for the knowledge of and compliance with occupational safety regulations.
KazTransGas JSC has developed and largely applies the personnel stimulation system. With that end in view the Company organizes contests on issues of occupational health and safety and corporate culture. Activities focused on experience sharing and development training of the personnel are implemented on a ongoing basis. This ensures that the Company’s personnel ranks among the best qualified and the most efficient teams in the industry.

Working conditions at all the divisions of KazTransGas JSC meet the relevant hygiene and sanitary requirements. The personnel have at its disposal locker rooms and shower facilities, recreation areas and temporary accommodation. Work places at the production sites fully meet requirements of the effective legislation and the relevant regulatory framework of the RK.
Buildings and structures, in accordance with the availability standards, are equipped with safety signs and fire fighting appliances. Occupational health and safety setups provide access for the personnel to the reference information, regulatory framework and technological regulations and requirements and thus help the personnel to enlarge its knowledge of occupational health and safety requirements.
The personnel are timely provided with working clothes, working footwear and individual protection means. Those exposed to harmful working conditions get therapeutic and preventive nutrition and free milk. The personnel are provided with cleansers, detergents and disinfectants as well as first-aid kits to keep work places in the proper condition.
