Kazakhstan has built a marine terminal, first in the country, on the transshipment of liquefied gas. About it informs PortNews web-resource. The terminal is located in the port of Aktau on the Caspian Sea coast.
«The terminal has been built already; under process are last preparations for launching,» informs Argus referring to the source in the company formed to build and operate the transshipment point.
The terminal’s capacity will come to 35 000 tons a month. According to the market participants, in the first months of operation the terminal will transship no more than 7-8 000 tons a month.
To transport gas, the terminal’s owners have acquired the Caspian Gold vessel with a deadweight of 2 000 m3 and chartered the Anbutane tanker-gas carrier of similar capacity. It is expected that the first party of gas will be sent to the Iranian port of Neka. According to the Ministry of Oil and Gas of Kazakhstan, the export of gas from the republic has increased by 20 % in 2010 and comprised 1.57 million tons, including 29.5 thousand tons by rail to Iran.
